FAQ
Good questions to ask before you travel
If your question is not answered here, ask us. We are always happy to help, whether or not you have booked.
Planning
When is the best time to visit Vietnam and Cambodia?
There is good weather somewhere in Vietnam all year, because the north, centre and south have different climates. The north is best from March to May and September to November, and cool from December to February. The central coast is dry from February to August and wet from September to December. The south and Cambodia are dry from November to April and have afternoon rains from May to October. If you want to see the whole of Vietnam in one trip, February to April is the easiest time.
How far in advance should I book?
For travel around Christmas, New Year and Tết (the lunar new year, in late January or February), we recommend getting in touch six to nine months ahead, as the best small hotels and cruise cabins fill early. At other times two to three months is usually enough, and we are always happy to try at shorter notice.
Are your journeys fixed, or can they be changed?
Every journey is private and tailor-made. The itineraries on this site are starting points. We will adjust the length, pace, route and style of stay to suit you, and we can combine Vietnam and Cambodia in a single trip.
Do you arrange international flights?
We do not book international flights, but we are happy to advise on the best routes and airports for arrival and departure. We arrange all travel within Vietnam and Cambodia, including domestic flights, boats and trains.
How do I contact you?
The quickest way is WhatsApp. We work by message only and do not take phone calls, so we can reply properly wherever you are in the world, whatever the time difference. You can also use the enquiry form or email us.
Visas and entry
Do I need a visa for Vietnam?
Some nationalities, including UK citizens, can currently visit Vietnam without a visa for a limited stay. Most other visitors can apply online for a Vietnamese e-visa through the official government portal (evisa.gov.vn). Use only the official site. The rules change, so please check the current requirements for your nationality before booking flights.
Do I need a visa for Cambodia?
Most visitors need a visa for Cambodia. Many nationalities can apply online for an e-visa through the official site (evisa.gov.kh), and a visa on arrival is available at the main airports and some land borders. Please check the current rules for your nationality.
How long should my passport be valid?
Your passport should be valid for at least six months from the date you enter Vietnam or Cambodia, with blank pages for entry stamps.
Health and safety
Are Vietnam and Cambodia safe for travellers?
Both countries are widely regarded as welcoming and safe places to travel. As anywhere, sensible precautions apply, especially with valuables in busy cities. Your guide, your driver and our local team are with you throughout, and we are available around the clock should anything come up.
Do I need vaccinations?
Please speak to your doctor or a travel clinic six to eight weeks before departure for advice specific to you. For UK travellers, the NHS Fit for Travel website is a helpful starting point.
What about food and water?
We choose restaurants and hotels with high standards of hygiene. Bottled water is provided in your car throughout. Let us know about any allergies or dietary needs and we will brief every hotel, cruise and cook in advance.
Payments and cancellations
How do I pay?
Once you are happy with your itinerary, we ask for a deposit (usually 25%) to confirm your arrangements, with the balance due 60 days before arrival. We accept international bank transfer and major credit and debit cards. Your quote will set out the full cost before you commit.
What is your cancellation policy?
Cancellation charges depend on how close to departure you cancel and on the conditions of individual hotels and cruises. Our standard terms are set out in our booking conditions, and we will always confirm the specific terms for your trip before you pay a deposit. We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance from the moment you book.
Do I need travel insurance?
Yes. Comprehensive travel insurance, including medical cover and cancellation, is a condition of booking.
