The Mekong is the thread that ties Vietnam and Cambodia together. This journey follows it upstream from the delta's orchards and canals to Chau Doc on the border, then by boat to the Cambodian capital.
It works on its own or as a bridge between longer journeys in each country.
Day 1
Met at Tan Son Nhat airport. An evening walk and dinner in District 1.
Day 2
Into the delta. Small boats through coconut-palm canals to family workshops and orchards, with lunch in a garden house.
Days 3–4
An early boat to the Cai Rang floating market, cycling along village paths and a cookery lesson with a local family.
Day 5
West to Chau Doc near the border: Sam Mountain, the Cham villages and the floating fish farms.
Days 6–7
A boat up the Mekong across the border to Phnom Penh. The Royal Palace, Silver Pagoda and a sunset cruise.
Day 8
Private transfer to Phnom Penh airport, or continue to Siem Reap.
